Seminar 2 Part 2

Ok who is the magic person that fixed that? My assistant is raising her hand. Was it you? Ok everybody, very good. Well I’m glad that’s gone that’s horrible. Should I repeat everything I just said, god no, please say no. Alright so Jamie can you handle Randy’s question? Yes well actually all I was, I was just going to keep it real simple. I think that the easiest thing to offer in regards to actually learning and being able to offer a package that you can sell to local business owners with out doubt hands down local SEO. I think local SEO is a lot simpler than SEO as a whole. By just frequent forums such as the Warrior Forum and the LBB forum as well and your forum. You can pick up many many tricks that you can basically do with the local SEO and I think its one of the easiest things because you don’t have to design, you don’t have to know how to read HTML code, you just have to know the basics. How to put Meta tags into a website which is really simple. All you need to do is watch a quick video tutorial for example. And then learn how to write content, which again is really simple to do. And then learn how to build links that you get through social bookmarks and things like that. It’s again really simple to do. So my answer to Randy’s question, having all of the background in sales, which is probably the heart, the hardest part is going into local SEO’s. I think that is the easiest you can pick up and learn fairly quickly.

Ok, great thank you very much Jaime hopefully that did help him. Alright I’m going to get the whatever you call that thing…. the PowerPoint back up in one second. Also, I do want to point out, Jaime, I don’t know if you are aware of the situation but I tried to post this free webinar again. Which nobody is selling anything, your product isn’t even due out for another week or so, Tuesday mine, Tuesday ok well we’re not really going to promote it, we’ll be doing that through the weekend and next month but we will talk about I for a little bit. This webinar was free but apparently, I’m sorry Jaime go ahead, I was just going to say this one was basically set up so that we can go back to basics for people that are just starting out. I’m just letting everybody know that I did post this. The forums really are to help people and its free information and I just wanted to point out to everybody that there was a little problem with LBB on our last one for some reason I don’t know. They thought I was trying to steal their clients, which I’m not because we’re all in this to help each other hence having a forum. But for some reason LBB did not today decided to take the post down about having this free webinar to help you all to get started. That’s why I have my forum anyway, is to have everybody contribute whether you’ve been doing this for one day, one hour, five minutes or five years. To help each other do this.

There are plenty of local businesses in the United States, recession or not. And this is really a recession proof business. I believe, yes maybe we’re not going to get every customer to buy a twenty thousand dollar maybe not even a five thousand dollar website. But its still a recession proof business. Every single business I approach needs one if not all four of the services that I offer. LBB for some reason did not like me promoting this free webinar to help everybody for free on their forum. I don’t know why, last week I put it up and I put it up this morning to promote it and they took it down again. So, like I said, once again my forum is free. There is nothing to buy on there. Unless someone is selling an e-book or course to help you out. Then that’s up to you. And I can’t endorse that it will make you money what so ever. But we’re all here to help you offline is a goldmine so stop by there if you want some free advice. That’s enough about that subject. It’s a little disheartening considering that Jaime and I have a lot of people over there that do like us. We contribute a lot to that forum and apparently we’re just not liked. Or its just me, a lot of people don’t like me, whatever. I don’t care.

Now, lets talk about giving away some stuff for free, how to make money on the back end and reoccurring monthly income. This is going to blow some of you away but Michael Sylvester put out a great report that I stumbled across on the Warrior Forum and it’s about building websites for free. I know it sounds crazy but if you have any technical knowledge what so ever whether it be building a Word Press site or even getting a site off of Template Monster. Throw an ad in craigslist, do you cold calling like Jaime advises, ambush whatever you want to do give something away for free. It’s going to show that you care, it’s going to earn you business from that client. Offer to build them a free website. Try it out all next week, any client you talk to if you are having a problem getting sales. If you walk in there and say listen how about I build you a free three page, four page website? Build it for them, you can tell them that you are offering three months of hosting for free, two months of hosting for free. Try it out. You can SEO it a little bit, not a lot but at least put the title tags in there, the key words in there. If you can’t do it yourself like I said go to Rentacoder.com, my designer would be happy to help you out doing this. But then what you do is you sell them on the backend. Once they see that they have a beautiful website that you built for them.

To build this website if you do it yourself if you use word press, you can upload a word press to your server for virtually free. There are free themes all over the place. If you use Template Monster you’re talking about sixty dollars. Even while you are there and you sell them the free website you can backend sell them on email marketing. Hey, I’m going to build you the website for free how about this? Why don’t you let me generate your lead capture form and when people find this website you can start collecting their information to follow up with them and convert them into sales later. There, you just gave them the free website but you just sold your email marketing package. Or let me build you the website for free for three months never any charge. After three months maybe you can start charging them for hosting. Fifty, one hundred dollars per month whatever you want to do, whatever you feel comfortable with. After the three months you can charge them for that.

In the mean time like I said, up sell them the email package and also to collect at the store. Up-sell them a video, up-sell them an additional blog. Up-sell them that you will distribute the videos if they do the video. But tell them today this week ending on April first this is your offer. Your offer is to build them a free website. I’m sorry I forgot one, most important SEO. You can tell them you will make that website search engine friendly but that doesn’t mean they are going to get on page one and/or stay on page one. If they want to maintain that, charge them three hundred dollars per month two hundred dollars per month to keep up their SEO. Include one article per month, possibly one press release per month. Two articles that you will distribute through the top article directories that are free that you can submit their article to build up their back links. But backend, backend, backend, so what if you give them this website for free, the up-sells can be tremendous. You can offer a free website and seriously, easy make five hundred to one thousand dollars off of this client for the entire year. That’s twelve thousand dollars in your pocket or six or seven thousand dollars in your pocket every year because you gave something away for free. So try that for the next week or two and let me know how you make out on the forums or shoot me an email.

Like I was saying before you can email me if you want to talk to me about having a designer, for example if you use Template Monster you’re not really going to need a designer as long as you know how to upload to your server. If not you might need to find a programmer. There are some programmers in my forum and in the Warrior Forum. Or you can go look; you can very easily find a programmer that will upload a site for you if you don’t know how to do that for probably twenty five to fifty dollars. Not a lot of money. Or you can go to Rentacoder.com and find somebody off of there for twenty five or thirty dollars maybe even ten dollars per hour to upload a site if you bought a template from Template Monster it doesn’t really take them that long to do it. Outsource it. If you know how to do it yourself, do it your self if you don’t, outsource, outsource, outsource.

You can go out and get probably by next Tuesday ten people that want a free website and out of those ten you will probably up-sell at least eight of them. To do one of your additional services. So you can use rentacoder for that if you want to outsource for a programmer. For the up-sells like I said up-sell them a SEO package, per month SEO package to keep their site on page one or page two of Google for local key words. Video you can use, email you can use, social marketing that can be a package. Bundle these up into little packages. If they already have SEO and the website offer them the email offer them the video.

Social marketing is humongous right now. Teach them how to use Twitter. It’s Twitter.com not Twittercom. I’m actually going to next week teach one of my clients how to use Twitter. That I think for his business would be very effective because things change in his business almost hourly during the summer. And if you were to twitter what was going on and people were on his list I can pretty much guarantee that he would get a lot of clients from his Twitter posts. You can set them up with a Myspace page, a Facebook page, and a Facebook fan page, put their articles on those sites, which will also be indexed by the search engine. But get them out there and get them doing social marketing a lot of businesses are getting into it. Offer that as a package.

Press Release can be another service. If you don’t know how to write them, once again you can find these professionals that will write them for you rather inexpensively. Possibly eighty to one hundred dollars to write them. And then you can also submit them. PRweb is really good for doing that as well. But some of you write a press release for them once per month. Maybe they get a new product in or they are offering a new service or if its one of those aesthetic places they offer all kinds of services. Every month they could highlight a different service and write press releases about that. So that’s another you can bundle together.

Ways to Get Your Clients

Craigslist, you can throw an ad up there. You can even say hey, local website design company is offering free websites. And then you can up-sell them from there. Throw a classified ad in the newspaper. Ambushing my personal favorite. Cold calling, Jaime’s favorite. These are the ways to get your clients. Leads that you already see advertising Yellow book, phone book, the free ads, the value packs whatever you get in the mail or whatever you see at your local stores. And there is always email if you don’t want to call or you don’t want to ambush you can also use email. Look at those ads, and write the person. Go to that website and go this person isn’t collecting email addresses, let me write them a quick little note, letter and say I do this. Do you realize that email marketing can bring you back around four hundred percent in ROI for every dollar you spend? You’re missing out by not collecting email addresses. This is a service that I offer.

Email them that you saw their website, you checked it out you’re a local online marketing consultant, I notice you’re not showing video. Wow, video for your product and your business would be outstanding. Give me a call and I can offer you a free consultation on how I can help you grow your business. So I hope that helped you out today. That was a lot of information and a lot of tips. I’m going to turn it over to Jaime here but my words to you are good luck and go collect some checks.

Jaime

There are two things I want to go into really quickly; obviously we don’t have mountains of time. The first thing was when deciding you want to go into an offline business and set up an online marketing company or as a hobby or however you want to do it, I think the biggest thing you should maybe focus on is setting up everything as professional as possible from the word go. I know over the past few months on the forums when everyone is posting the success stories of walking into a business and coming out with a check for thousands of dollars and what not. I think that professionalism is one of the biggest things. Especially when I started my business that helped me grow as fast as I could because I could compete with the bigger in the UK because I was calling over the phone and I had a website built that was similar looking to the bigger companies corporate look to it just to add that professionalism.

It certainly helped me. I went out and got company logos and branding done. I also got the website set up as I mentioned and business cards as well. So when I did prospect whoever that was over the phone whether it was posting ads on my favorite Gumtree if you are in the UK its pretty mega if your in the London area and Craigslist as well. I made sure that I had all of the branding and everything done so I looked like a professional company that’s been up and running for quite a while. I think the professional image certainly helped me from the word go. And I’ve treated it as a business from the word go and not just as a side hobby or as a side thing. I mean I’ve worked with offline businesses previously while I was selling over the phone. I ended up quitting my job within seven days and I wouldn’t have been able to do that if I didn’t set it up professionally before hand. And I treated it as a business from the very word go and I think that is one of the most important aspects to get started.

I know many of you out there probably have picked clients right now who haven’t even gotten your own website for your business yet. That was something I did and if you are just starting out I would definitely recommend that you can do, I actually outsourced my design for my website. I didn’t build it myself when I first started. So you can go out and outsource design for one hundred fifty to two hundred dollars and get yourself a nice corporate looking website with branding. You know you write all of the content up and then you have got a port of call so when you do speak to a business owner in passing or a family member or a relative if they know someone that maybe interested at least you have got a port of call for them to go to before you contact them.

Or when you do speak to somebody on the street or an old friend or whatever it may be having the port of call and having the website and having that professional image for your company before you go shows that you’re serious about what you do. And I think that it’s really important to have that before hand. Its not vital, its not crucial, you don’t desperately need it but I would definitely recommend it if you are just starting out and thinking of prospecting. Certainly for things like face to face selling, if you’re doing the ambushing or cold calling or even emailing business owners having a website address to send people to or to put on the end of your emails again just adds that extra bit of professionalism. You can get sales copy up there it all helps to convert clients. So that’s the first thing I wanted to talk to you about.

And the second thing was the quickest way you can generate clients to begin with. A lot of people probably wont do it like me; I probably did it the wrong way in essence. It was a lot of risk involved with the way I jumped into it. I took a week sick off of work and never went back to work. I relied solely on the cold calling aspect of it. And I know a lot of people out there in essence wont be able to do that. So if you are working a day job at the moment or a full time job and you’re doing this in the part time as you build up I would point in the direction of your classified directories such as Gumtree, the US Craigslist, they are huge sites to generate business from. If you have a look on these sites and you look in the web design section of these sites you will see mountains and mountains of adverse web designers advertising in there every day.

People wouldn’t spent the time it takes to type out Craigslist ads everyday if they were not getting any inquiries from it. And you do get inquiries from it. I’ve picked up clients from Gumtree which is the equivalent to Craigslilst. Cragislist is in the UK but it isn’t as big as Gumtree in the UK. Gumtree has generated me clients. When I do have time I’d put adverts on there right now. And what I tended to do and I’ve mentioned this before on forums I’ve posted on as well, is I would post my adverts in different sections of the site where possible so maybe in the home improvement section, maybe in the beauty and therapy section, also in the miscellaneous sections. All so that business owners that are advertising in there at the moment will see my adverts without having to click on the web design link.

That was pretty powerful because if you put yourself in a business owners shoes if they are going to post an advert on a website like Craigslist or Gumtree they always check out the competition first. And if your ad is in there obviously you catch a few eyes and I’ve picked up business all over the country in the UK that is. So I think the quickest way, I mean if you don’t have the time to go out and prospect over the phone or face to face, which if you are working a full time job it can be quite hard is get adverts on Gumtree if you are in the UK or on Craigslist if you are in the US and basically pick up clients that way to begin with and build a couple of clients up. Do it slowly, get comfortable and try different things out. And then you can obviously look at incorporating cold calling in the evenings maybe for an hour or even the weekends or face-to-face selling or how ever you wanted to hit it. That would be basically my advice. What happened last time is I ended up rambling on for ages and ages and I don’t want to do that.

So that would be my two main points is to get the professional image done which is important and also the Craigslist and Gumtree. If you use classified sites to pick up web design clients or SEO clients or email marketing which ever area of the off line marketing you’re aiming at or targeting you should do extremely well doing it that way.

Jaime, in four minutes we’re going to see if anybody has questions. I don’t want to go rambling on those were the two main points. You use Craigslist yourself? Occasionally on and off I try it, I forget about it. It works sometimes. I also got a couple of loony bins too so. What do you mean? Crazy people, this guy he called before and he’s like I have flea market items can you put up like one hundred items for me for one hundred dollars

for a website? And I’m like no and he called relentlessly for like two weeks it was insane. So that kind of scared me. Well you definitely get your hit and miss. I’ve had a few inquiries on there where people do look for certain things for nothing basically but they are looking for the cheapest quote on there. But I’ve also had inquiries as well from big firms in the UK, national companies so it does show that you do get a range of people but its definitely worth putting a few adverts on there if you’re working full time and your just looking to take on one or two clients to test the water get comfortable and move on.

Jaime, pretend you just called me and I own a hair salon, what would you say right now? Like a total cold call, you never called them before. Gina’s hair salon may I help you? How are you doing? Just introduce myself, just a really quick call my name is Jaime ______ I just found your advert on Craigslist in the beauty section have you popped that on there recently? Today was it? It was today or yesterday I’m not quite sure. Yes well as I said just a really quick call, I was actually wondering or presuming should I say that you popping an advert on there are you currently looking to further your online campaign? Obviously, yes. That’s how I would open a call. Then I would go into it from there.

Ok perfect. But do you know that I’m the owner; do you ask for the owner? I don’t ask for the owner at the very beginning. Because if it was a hair salon for example and someone picked that up that wasn’t the owner with me asking if you are looking to further your online campaign the answer they would give there would tell me if it was the owner or not. If it wasn’t the owner they would probably say oh sorry I need t get the owner for you because it obviously is regarding something that has nothing to do with what they can really decide on.

I target a lot of tradesmen for example. Which is a quite hard niche to target at the moment because of the downturn in the economy. And the majority of numbers I ring are mobile or cell phone numbers. Which are predominantly always the owner or somebody who can make a decision. But at that point they said yes they are looking to further their online advertising or marketing I would then ask if they were ok to talk at the moment if they are the owner of the business at that point. It’s not the first question I ask so I don’t put people off thinking its just another salesman.

Lets see if anyone wants to raise their hands and ask some questions to either you or myself. Rick asked if he could buy your accent. I was actually talking to my girlfriend two nights ago, I’d love to move to America, I hate the UK so I’d love to move to America, so I was saying I bet if I got a sales job in America I would clean up solely because of the accent. You might, you might. Rick said are you the person responsible for generating new, Rick are you there? Yes I am. Ok ask your question, I was just saying getting a hard time with the gatekeeper thing you say are you the person responsible for generating new customers? And that will take the low lives and the gatekeepers right out of whack.

Definitely that is a great way. There is also the one where you ask are you the person that makes decisions on generating more customers for the business? It’s just a twist on what you just said there and its perfect. That would definitely blow a lot of gatekeepers straight off.

All right Debbie you’re on are you there? Yes hi I’m here, Hi Debbie go ahead. Ask the question that you tried to type. Oh ok, I just set up a City America; I don’t know if you know that portal site. A few of the people on LBB have it as well. But it basically sets you up with a portal and they populate it with the local businesses just like a simple yellow pages listing. And then you go around and up-sell them on whatever you decide because its your business that you can put one or two levels above it and you can have various levels of advertising on there. So would you do that as the same type of set up that you just talked about? Saying hey we have a listing for you already would you like to upscale it? Sure up-sell absolutely. Do you mean more description, or add videos, or add more content? You can control whatever they get; you can add more content, bold all kinds of impressions to get their business more noted. You can also up-sell them on getting their own website at some point if they don’t have one. Can you also put in a lead capture thing for them there or no? Not from the site. No, oh. Well, you can send them to the website and it has one on it that would be great. That’s what I’d be trying to talk to them about. And again its local businesses and what I want to do is set it up. The great thing I like about it is that it allows them to create coupons. And coupons are a really big thing right now for businesses. Oh absolutely it is. That’s what’s good about the auto responders too for just joining you can spit one out and you can tell the clients if they join your list then you’ll give them like five dollars off their next bill of twenty five or whatever. Or a free appetizer just for joining. And as soon as they opt in and confirm they get that coupon. This allows the companies to create their own coupons. Because once you set them up they can go in and make whatever changes they want. That’s what I like about it. Oh that’s great yes.

So my question is what’s the best way, should I call, should I email and tell them that they are already there or should I just drop into the business. What do you think is the best option you and Jaime? All three or whatever you are most comfortable with. Jaime go ahead, yeah well I was going to say all three. When I approach businesses I’ll approach them with every single weapon or every single avenue that I can approach business so that you never in essence miss a business. I used to when I worked at my old job half of the package we offered was portal advertising so they had portals all over the UK that you could sell a premium or priority listing in a portal where they will appear above all of the other competitors in the area.

The way we used to open calls when I first started whether this is still effective now I wouldn’t know because towards the end of when I worked there we stopped selling the portals it was more on the SEO side of things. We would just ring a business owner and basically ask are you in a position to take on more business? Or are you in a position to take on more work? And every single business owner is going to say yes. And then that opens the door for you to say alright well I run a portal and you can then ask them if they

have time to listen and talk about your portal and the fact that you generate traffic through your portal from the search engines or wherever you are advertising and explain that at the moment for example we’ll use an electrician as an example say we have every single electrician in your local area currently listed on the portal that currently generates around one hundred views per week or whatever it may generate and today we are looking for one electrician that would be interested in prioritizing their position on there.

So they basically appear guaranteed number one all of the time somebody clicks through on that portal. And that’s how we used to sell that. We didn’t used to do it by email though I’m sure there are many different ways to do it through email such as screen shots. Once people see their competitors in there next to them it does add that little bit of edge. And stats are good as well. If your portal if you are working on SEO or however you are promoting that you can put all of that down in email so you can basically show people exactly what they would get if they were to prioritize within that portal above their competitors. That’s great, that’s good info. Since you’ve done this Jaime obviously I just opened it its been up for only a week. I’m still busy kind of setting it up. If you don’t have traffic to it yet how do you say well we’ve got traffic? Well if you don’t have traffic at the moment obviously you wouldn’t be able to say that you are getting traffic through because many people would want to see some sort of results.

I mean there are many things you could do when you are trying to get it off the ground. This is just off the top of my head now, because when I was selling the portal advertising generally within the first year and a half, to two years when I worked at my day job it was also fairly established portals as well they were portals that were up and running before I started working there so they had a lot of traffic coming through. What you could potentially do is and I don’t want to talk too much about this selling technique because it is part of phone obliteration that I’m releasing on Tuesday but, if you have say a portal and you offer them premium listings on your portal rather than offer everything as a whole, say you are offering the portal, and one page web design, and opt in boxes on there as well, rather than offering it as a whole, split it into different packages. And then you can use different packages to compliment others. You can use different packages to help you close deals with business owners by maybe offering discounts or by offering things for free rather than throwing it all in at once. So if you have more to offer you don’t have to talk about the traffic to the portal because to a business owner looking at that on the screen and maybe you running through it with them its all advertising, its all company promotion for that business. And you can use other things to compliment it for the time being. While you are getting the portal up and running and getting traffic to it.

I had planned on approaching a few businesses and offering it to them for free as the official start of it. Yes definitely. Ok so that’s good I’m on the right track then? Certainly I think the hardest part, there are probably people that could give you better info and advise on the portal situation because I don’t run a portal myself but having sold advertising on a portal myself I know that a lot of people in essence don’t worry about traffic as such to begin with. But we always used to throw that in. I don’t know whether they talk about that or not now. But definitely when you are first starting out if you were to give certain positions on your portal away for free maybe and then you show other business owners that you can charge or go the route of giving listings, the premium ones away for free keeping the top premium listing maybe auctioning it off or giving it to one business for a certain amount each month once you’ve started to populate it and people know they are in there. Oh all right that makes sense. Thanks very much for the info. No problem.

I have some more questions coming through here I want to see if Jillian has a mic. I’m going to try her because she asked a good question this morning and of course now I cant find the paper. I don’t know what happened to it. Jillian are you there? Do you have a mic? Yes. Yay! There she is! Everybody let me just tell you that Jillian sent me an IM yesterday on the forum that if there was a contest for that she would have won. I never had an IM so long in my life. That was great; thank you I hope I answered some of your questions. I am not a good typer that’s why I have assistants. I hate typing. So I wasn’t half as long as you but I tried. Well I type really fast. You do, god I wish I could. I cant. I’d much rather talk and set up webinars.

But go ahead and ask the question that you posted today. Whenever you find somebody on Craigslist or in an ad somewhere else, and you give him or her the pitch like Jaime was just saying whenever you give him or her a call. What if they say oh well you found me on Craigslist or wherever so it’s working so I don’t need you. Oh don’t you love that one? Have you had anybody say that? Actually I have but it wasn’t Craigslist it was something different. I was looking specifically to help grow their business. I don’t know how many people here were looking to help grow their business but that’s really the only reason I was in there looking, was to offer services to help you grow. That I wasn’t really a customer you know. Are there customers there, some of them, hopefully, probably but you can turn it right back on them and say how many calls did you get from this ad? Well that’s great but did it come up on Google when they searched for it? For that particular business their craigslist ad do you know? Oh I don’t know. It hasn’t happened to me but I could just imagine it happening because I live in an area where people are so backwards about the Internet. I hear you, yes.

I write for the Business Journal and sometimes I’m interviewing people and I just can’t believe that they stayed in business because they just don’t know anything about how to run a business. So I can just imagine people saying something like this to me. I’ve had people say that to me in the past. Certainly quite a few times, the two things I used to use were and most of this was through Gumtree in the UK. Gumtree used to appear in search engines and even without looking to see if that ad actually appeared in search engines I would just basically go down the route of well, Craigslist generates most of their traffic directly from the search engines such as Google, Yahoo, just imagine the power rather than you appearing with a list of business owners on Craigslist that your actual business website appeared in the search engines instead. So you were getting in essence the first port of call rather than having to go through a third party like Craigslist. That was one way I would do it. And the other way is free advertising would generate you business then just imagine what paid advertising would online.

Jillian, I just saw your other question about the insurance. Do you want to everybody too? My insurance agent told me that it doesn’t matter if you have the magnate on your vehicle or not if you are out running around doing business even if you have nothing on your vehicle that says this is my vehicle for business, if they suspect you were doing business with your personal vehicle you could risk losing your insurance unless you have the business insurance. Which is not that much more expensive to get the business insurance. But my guy told me that if you insist no I wasn’t out doing business when I had this wreck meanwhile your box of business cards and your computer and day planner and literature just tumbles out they are going to know. If they suspect, they will investigate and you could get in big trouble and lose your insurance that way. It’s happened. So I mean check on it because its not that much more expensive. Definitely that’s good advise there. Thank you Jillian.

I have a question here and I think he’s gone now. Matt was here and he asked about reoccurring income. That would obviously be the maintenance fees for updating the site it could be for example an hour per month they could change articles, change pictures, change content. Obviously not a whole new page that would be more expense. A maintenance fee to keep the site up, keep it maintained make sure there are no broken links, hyperlinks, make sure there are no 404 errors, any image errors so you could charge for that. Obviously the email marketing is a reoccurring income. You can charge for hosting, if you want to give that away for a while that can be a reoccurring income. The videos, to do that every month that’s a reoccurring income. So you can get ten clients and every single one is paying anywhere between fifty and one thousand dollars per month for any one of your services or combined services. So this is all a reoccurring income business. That’s one of the beauties of it. Do you want to elaborate on that Jaime or we can wrap this up? Well I just agree with everything you’ve said there. I think the SEO like link building and maintaining that you keep the site high up in the search engines that’s one of the main residuals. SEO’s too obviously you can charge for that as well.

I posted a contest in the forum and no one has won yet. Somebody with a lot of experience who could definitely win is being so kind as to pass it off and try to let a newbie get in there and win. Come on, let’s see some checks in there, some pictures and images, and get some clients. Jaime and I are doing all we can to help you out you can write him, write me post in the forum we’re all here to help each other. Thank you everybody who joined us today I really appreciate it. Make sure you do get Jaime’s Phone Obliteration next week; it’s going to be awesome. Hopefully one of my two e-books that I’m working on right now will be done in the next week or two as well. To help you out. Thank you very much and we’ll keep you informed of the next one. Stop in the forum and say hi. Thanks very much for listening and everyone have a good weekend. Good luck, go get some checks, bye.

Seminar with Gogetta Part 2-1

Today we are going to talk about Show Me The Money and how to get the money. I want to start with what you should do legally. There are some people out there who say that you don’t need anything. You don’t need a bank account, you don’t need cards, you don’t need brochures, and you don’t need anything to get started. Well, to look reputable in this business it is a good idea to be able to have a bank account so you can receive a check. To have it made out to you is just a little amateurish. And I if I was a business owner I wouldn’t really trust, I’m sure you can go with I didn’t set my account up yet but once again it does look amateurish. I would talk to your accountant, most of you probably already have one, about having them set you up with your IRS federal number and filing for your DBA. Whatever company name you decide to use to do this, whether it is Internet Marketing, Online Consultant, whatever you want it to be. And then go and file for it. It takes about a day or two, or you can go online to IRS.gov I believe it is and file that way. You don’t need to pay your accountant to do that. So if that’s easier for you to do go ahead and do it that way.

Once you have your paper the accountant or IRS can give you the number on the phone I believe or also mail you a hard copy. Also one thing I want to talk to you about is incorporations. I’m an LLC. I would advise being an LLC. Once again you can talk to your accountant about that. LLC is the easiest and that’s what my company is. Once you have your DBA number you can take that to the bank and start your bank account. They give you the starter checks but you won’t be using any checks to go out, you want the checks to come in. So, they give you your starter book with deposit slips and you can use them to deposit your very first check. That will be a great feeling when that happens. And you better come to me on the forum and tell me when you did get your first check. Because I want to hear about it and so does everybody else.

Next thing would be your printed material. I didn’t have business cards when I first started so I went to Vista Print they are very reasonable. Cheaper than going to Staples or your local office supply store. Vista Print I really like, you can pick out your logo unless you already have a logo, if you had a designer make you a logo. Then magnates are an option for your car if you want. I have them on mine. I do believe that if you get in an accident and you have a magnate of a business on your car the insurance will not cover you unless your vehicle is registered as a business. My truck is registered as a business so I can have magnates on my car. God for bid I am in an accident or someone decides to hit me I am still covered. It’s great advertising to put a magnate on your vehicle. I strongly advise to do it. I have them, I love them I actually want to take them off and have the decals put on. As far as the magnates go I do advise to get them they are helpful but like I said only if your car or truck is in your business name.

As far as brochures they are optional. I did have them when I first started for email marketing. Now I really don’t use them at all because I keep changing my rates. I can’t make up my mind, I’m blond and I’m a woman so I guess its always going to happen. So I did have the brochures, which I got through Vista Print. It was just a little outline and description of the value of email marketing and why they should do it and what it will do for them and the prices. But like I said it’s really optional. Its something you can think about doing down the road.

I found a great report from Yanik Silver the other day. I think its something you might like. If I were you I’d write this address down. This PDF is two hundred fifty one pages long. It is really good, its really good information about direct emails and email marketing. There is so much information in this PDF it will keep you busy for a little while reading it but the ideas in it that you can use for your clients are just tremendous. So check that over. I’ll give you another minute to write that down.

I just got a note from Jaime he said he is having technical problems but he is working on it now. So hopefully he’ll be back with us soon. Jason, you were kind enough to send me your email this morning. So I want to answer your question. Jason’s question was what would be your offline marketing starter kit? Meaning if I wanted to go out today and get a check what would you suggest I do?

He said he’s got a form or service of getting leads I don’t understand what you mean by form I guess you mean on the internet I’m not really sure. The source of getting leads we did go over this in part one of this webinar last week, any of your free local weekly, monthly magazines that you get delivered to your house. Like I said here in Atlantic City we have something called the Atlantic City Weekly. Which you can get at restaurants or businesses. They distribute that all over the place. It comes out on Thursdays. We also have delivered to our house a magazine called The Current. That is delivered to our house every week. Its split up by zones in two counties people do advertising in there as well. So like I said use those. Think about pack mailers, those are really good. Anywhere you can see, some people say can I flip through the phone book and look at the big ads, absolutely you can do that. Obviously they are spending money every month advertising. Yellow Pages are dead, people just aren’t looking anymore. They are looking online; they are looking for businesses to do business with on the Internet. That’s where they are going. There are something like nine hundred million people on the Internet now who have access to email. So that’s what they are looking for. I hope that’s what you were looking for to get the leads.

Number two was a book or script to use over the phone to get the appointments. Ok, I have a link I put it in my forum offlineisagoldmine.com but obviously Jaime, hopefully he will get back here soon, is the cold calling guy to go to. He just put out a new report called Phone Obliteration, which is going to be awesome. I’ve seen a preview of it its just killer. This thing with out a doubt is going to make you thousands of dollars just by using the phone. So look out for that.

Things to cover during your appointment, obviously questions. The most important thing you can do on your appointments is asking questions. Where do they see that business next year? How did they get started with the business? Would they like to see it grow more in the next three months, six months, and one year? Obviously they would. Where are they advertising now? Is it effective for them? Are they tracking the results they are getting on their advertising? Is there a way to track it? Most likely no they can’t track what they are doing. One thing we do as offline business consultants is as I would say traceable, targeted and permission based. I actually did a cold call yesterday for an auto repair store, and the guy actually said to me could I track what I do with you. And I said absolutely. Everything we do is targeted, traceable and permission based. If its not we don’t do it. So ask them tons of questions. How they started, would they like to see the business grow, what are their biggest frustrations, is it getting customers, clients in the door? Is it getting them to come back for repeat business? So questions, questions, questions.

The more questions you ask, the more you sound concerned. The more you can devise a plan that will work for that client. Whether it be setting them up a new website, offering a opt in/lead capture form on their website so they can start collecting addresses. Hooking them up with lead capture forms in their business to see if they have walk in traffic. Maybe video, video may be really good for this client. We have one, this guy is straight off the boat Italian, he’s absolutely adorable, and I love when he comes in to pay his bill. But he’s an installer, and even for his website he’s got sure he’s got pictures on it but for this guy there was nothing better for this guy than to have a video of before and after of a room he did or a kitchen he redid. He does marble and tile. His work is unbelievable. But for him I would definitely suggest doing a video. Because like I said, pictures are ok, but video is better. So with him if there were a local directory I’d get him on a local directory or area if there were one. Or offer him to submit his video once per month to thirty of the top video sharing sites.

Obviously you can use trafficizer to do to that or you can do that manually. But that’s a service you can provide. You can charge them two hundred dollars per month. The jewelry store we do this for has four to five listings on page one or two just because we take his video and we submit it through trafficizer to forty-five video sharing sites. And he’s just killing he’s one and two because of this video. He doesn’t even have a website. It’s on my local video directory. One of the girls submits them to trafficizer, all of the clients all of the videos. So that’s another service you can offer your client if you can get them to do a video. I’ll go into that in another webinar about getting a videographer or doing it yourself. That’s not really for today.

This first question is any website, marketing related tools one would need to fulfill an email marketing campaign for a newly acquired client. I have lots of articles; I probably have two to three articles per service that I offer. Whether it would be video marketing, you can find these online. The best place to find them is using Google alerts. Go to google alerts and set up key words on things you would want information for your clients. That’s pretty much where I get most of my articles. I think I have Internet marketing as one of my subjects, offline marketing is another. Possibly email marketing, restaurant marketing and Google will scour the web for the best articles that they think relate to that key word and everyday in my email I get articles on those subjects. Some of them I print out and those are the ones I leave with the client especially if they are debating on one or two of the services. Maybe today they didn’t want to get set up with a website but they do like the video idea and they jump on it.

I have lots of literature obviously on email marketing so I’ll leave them with three or four pamphlets on email marketing. A lot of it is just proof and statistics and stuff like that. Some of it might even be in reference to national franchises and how they are using it and how effective it is for them. I would definitely recommend Google alerts. So hopefully that answered your question. Jason for the most part that’s basically what I bring to them and the contracts for when I do get them to sign the contract so I do bring that with me as well.

I have one other question from Randy. His question is if a person has lots of advertising sales background, obviously you do good for you Randy, with local business owners but has never done anything with online marketing in the areas you currently work which particular product or service that you currently offer would perhaps be the fastest to offer to business owners to start earning profits with? I have to start somewhere so where would you recommend based on your experience?

Randy, I’m sorry, all of them! Seriously all of them. This is what we can do a video, social marketing, new website or redesign your crappy one, local SEO it to get it to the first page of Google, email marketing that’s really simple. Start collecting names today. All of them really. You with advertising already know how to make calls, so you would probably already have your foot in the door and you probably have loads of connections. All of them, really that’s why you have to ask them questions. And try to analyze that’s why you are the consultant because you are analyzing based on his answers that you are getting from him on what you should do first. The price factor on that client, start them out with something small, start out with email marketing, by the way did anybody catch my Gina X video, I was in a funny mood that day that we actually shot that. It was on St. Patrick’s Day and I took my assistants to an Irish bar and she had car bombs and we fell into the office and shot that. But that’s a whole other story. Randy really that’s the best I can tell you. Is offer all of them ask the questions and figure it out.

Let me see if I can get Jaime to answer that question. Hopefully in under about five minutes he can offer that answer to you. Jaime? Can you hear me? Yes we can.

I don’t know if anyone else has got this but I can just hear a major echo. Yes you are echoing worse than I am I think. Hopefully people can understand. Just a quick answer to Randy’s question I would say local SEO.

Gina X

Hello, this is Gina X, I have to keep my identity concealed because I’m about to tell an extremely embarrassing story about a client of mine. The story has to do with an email marketing disaster. Don’t let this happen to one of your prospects or clients. This is the story.

I went to a restaurant approximately two to three weeks ago. I had a meeting explaining our services in the offline business world that we do. I was led to believe that she liked the email marketing the best. Seeing as though it is a resort town restaurant and it is strategically placed on the beach so they do get a high volume of traffic. Now, that day they decided to think about it, the owner and the restaurant manager. So I called back two weeks later because I had heard from a little birdie that they were running contests on who could accumulate the most email addresses. Now, I know they had not hired my company which will remain nameless at this moment to preserve all identities.

I gave them a call and I said would you like me to come back? Are there any other questions I could possibly answer for you to help you get started with your email marketing? She said yes, please come in on Thursday. No problem. I went to this appointment on that Thursday. After about an hour of meeting with the restaurant manager, she finally confessed to me. Did you hear the story? And I said no what story? And she said, well, we tried to do email marketing on our own. I’m like ok which I already kind of had an idea of because I heard like I said from a little birdie.

This manager went as far as printing their own little lead capture cards. They went as far as using an AOL address account. Number one bad. Never use AOL, GMAIL, YAHOO, for email. Why? Because AOL will catch on that it is a person that is spamming and they will seize their IP address. Therefore they can never use that email address for their business ever again. It’s also very unprofessional. So she did this, on the bottom of her lead capture cards she had printed “we will not share, rent or sell your information.”

Well, they thought they were suave, and smart and playing trickery on me. They thought it was easier to save a dollar than do it professionally and do it themselves. But they were wrong and I’ll tell you why. When she sent out this email to her one hundred fifty customers, she did not bcc them. So every single person on that list got to see everybody else’s email address. So therefore she made one hundred fifty people very mad because now all of those people saw all of the other people’s personal email addresses in their email.

Here is where it gets bad. One of the funny people on her list decided to take her email which was for a pajama and DJ party and change the text and add some graphics. They thought they would be funny. They changed it to a D*#K and DJ party and decided to implement some nice pornographic pictures. And then they sent it to everybody on their list. Yes, not a very good story. You can bet that restaurant owner pissed off one hundred fifty customers that may never return much less ever go back on their list ever again.

So, here is my tip, if you have a feeling that a customer that you meet with thinks that they can do this on their own, tell them a little bit of this story. I guarantee you will be hired for the job and they will not even attempt to do it on their own. And if they do attempt, so be it. Hope this doesn’t happen to them. Hope this helps. Gina X.

Adam’s Questions

Hi, Gina Grey here, I’m answering today one of Adam’s questions that he wrote to me in email. And my question to him was what is the number one thing that he would like to see or learn from myself and my program Ultimate Offline Business? And basically he said a marketing program to get clients.

Well, Adam there are three different ways of doing that. Basically one is through emailing prospects, meaning researching their website and seeing right off the bat that they need search engine optimization, possibly a redesign maybe its outdated, and/or possibly implementing a lead capture opt in box on their website. You can contact them through email, you can possibly get a post card printed up and mail that to them and then follow up later with a phone call, you can do straight out cold calling after doing the same kind of research, after checking out their website and getting a feel for what services they might need from you that would help them generate sales. Or straight out ambushing, my favorite, which is walking into any business at any time explaining who you are and what it is that you do and just asking them a bunch of questions seeing if possibly you can help them out. So, I hope that answers your first question.

Your second question is what is the top thing you want to learn about? You put email marketing, SEO and how and when to outsource web design and programming. Right now, I’m really just concentrating on putting out a strictly email program/e-book/membership course for you. I will get to the other four subjects that you mentioned but right now we’re really concentrating on helping people get started with email marketing. It’s the least expensive for our clients of the services that we offer and it also would generate revenue much faster than the other four subjects.

Your last question is What is the thing holding you back from starting this offline business and what do you need to do to graduate to the next step? Your answer was lack of time which goes to question number one answer which was that he needs a marketing program. Adam, the best thing I could suggest to you really, I don’t know how many hours a day you have to devote to this and I don’t know if you have a full time job or not. If you have an hour per day segment that hour to strictly writing emails or strictly handwriting addresses on your postcards or making one hour of cold calls.

We have two publications that we get yearly in South Jersey. One is Lifestyle Magazine, it comes once per month and it goes to homes that, somehow they found out, I guess through direct mail and they bought lists, they found out which homes make over one hundred fifty thousand per month of generated income. I can’t speak today, its Saturday, I’m not even supposed to be working today but I thought I’d put out this video really quick for you.

In this magazine, there are tons of advertisements as you can see. One is for a ballroom dance studio, the one on the bottom is for a men’s dress shop. There is another one for Jenny’s which is a Misses store, the one up top is for a hair salon. Right there you have four different ones; you can go to their website if they have it listed or go online and see if they do. There are four leads right there. I pretty much guarantee you can look up the website if they even have one and see if A) that website is search engine optimized. Go ahead and put in hairdresser or the town it was in and see if it pops up. If not, they need SEO. You can also kind of tell that by looking at their title tags. Does it say home? That is my number one red flag, like wow, they really need me. They really need some SEO work.

Are they capturing emails on their website? Probably not, another service you can offer them. That one comes out once per month by the way. This is another one, this one comes out every week. It’s called the Atlantic City Weekly. This thing is filled, I mean filled with ads. Restaurants, events that are going on in Atlantic City, realtors advertise in here, wineries advertise in here, an organic health food store. We get this once per week. Adam, if you have an hour or two, I’m sure you have some kind of local paper that comes out once per week. Go through every ad, go to the website if it’s listed in there, see if they are doing email marketing, see if its SEO’d, and see if it’s outdated. Like I said, before take your one hour per day, five days per week, and three days per week, whatever you have and contact them.

Pick out your plan, decide what it’s going to be, are you going to cold call, ambush them, if you only have an hour you probably don’t have a lot of time to do that, email them or use direct marketing. Follow up. Whatever you do, do it multiple times with the same person. If you want that client it’s worth it. If it’s emailing them, email them on Monday, if you don’t get a response back email them on Tuesday, haven’t heard from you, wanted to make sure you got my email. Still haven’t heard from them, then on Friday I would call them.

So hopefully that answers your three questions. This is Gina Grey from Ultimate Offline Business; hope to talk to you soon. Bye Bye.

Rita’s Question

Hi Rita, Gina Grey thank you for your email. Your question today, was kind of vague so I’m going to try to answer it the best way that I can. You said that you have an offline business, a retail store, I believe for eight years and you had a hard time competing with online companies. I’m confused. Did you mean that you are trying to compete with Macy’s or Target or a chain store like that? Yes that would be a little hard and I can see your point there. If you’re in a local hometown I don’t see that it would be a problem getting your store pretty much on page one or page two of Google for your search terms.

The key would be finding out what would be your main specialty that you sold was a doing a search possibly on Google Key Word Tool to see if in fact there are searches for your type of business or retail store that you had. Then it would just be some simple search engine optimization. I also don’t know if you are having a hang up or problem with doing online e-commerce. If you did add that to your website or you did not add it? If you did, obviously that can be huge for you to be able to sell online and do shipping.

But, like I said, your question was so vague on that you just had trouble competing with online stores. Like I said, if you are local it would be very easy to get to the top of the desired key words with simple, correct search engine optimization. And if you wanted to add e-commerce that would be great. One of our clients owns a British store where she has teas, and marmalades and all kinds of things. She has a website and she does e-commerce and she ships to all over the country. People that come into her store from different countries will when they go back home go onto her website and reorder over and over and over again.

If it’s clothing, that can be a little hard especially if the sizes are not right or whatever. But if you have an accessory type store, then I don’t think that it would be too much of a problem. What would be important is to A) get your site to the top of the search engines for your key words, B) get the online store running really really well, C) would be getting the email addresses and contacting everybody that comes into the store and everybody that hits your website. So that you can constantly send them out emails every one to two weeks with a different special or different sale that you may be hosting.

So, like I said, I hope this answers your question. I did the best that I could. I hope this helps you out. Thank you, this is Gina Grey. Hope to see you soon. Bye bye.

If this article grabbed your attention then you might already know how huge the internet marketing industry really is. What you may not know is that there is money to be made in selling marketing services to small businesses as well. For more info contact Gina at www. retailgoldmine.com most offline business owners do not understand how important it is to have an online presence or else they would already be online! This is where you come in. It is incredibly easy to set up email marketing campaigns, and a simple website for the online newcomer and profitable at that!

This is the day and age of the internet. It is estimated that 3 million people log on daily in the United States alone, so why not take advantage of this traffic and target it toward small businesses for an income? Even if you are not too familiar with the internet you will still be able to profit and make money from home by doing this. This job is for the newbie and the expert.

It is as simple as setting up a direct response website that can be found on search engines therefore making the clients money, creating a blog, submitting press releases and articles, using social mediums like myspace or facebook. This may seem like a lot but its not. If you can send an email or then you can easily charge a monthly fee for your service, same with updating blogs and using FREE services like facebook and myspace. As for the direct response website, its used as a way to grab the customers information such as name, email, and address. This way you can email them or direct mail them the business updates. Not only can you charge upwards of 1200 dollars to set up the site (which might cost you 100 bucks.. maybe) you can also charge a monthly fee for the upkeep of the site.

I’m amazed that more people have not tapped into this gem of a business! It is for anyone who has access to the internet and wants to work for themselves. How would you like to be able to support yourself and your family with putting in maybe 10-15 hours a week? Now you can.

Hi, Gina here, I know you haven’t heard from me in a while, I’ve been a bit busy. Pretty plain out and simple I’ve been really, really busy lately. Two weeks ago we had two big deadlines to come up with, but they are out of the way. I told myself I wasn’t doing anymore websites and I picked up like one or two more this week.

I’m going to shoot myself, but that’s ok. I was just sitting on the couch at home, my husband and I just got back from dinner, and I was sitting on the couch and I just started to get hot, like really hot just thinking about my day, what happened to me today, the work that I did, the work that I tried to do, and even some of the emails and private messages I got in the forum today. I was just getting madder and madder and madder and I said to my Husband “I’m going to write it out, what happened to me today and then I said no, I’m going to do a video because this is just too much to write.”

Guys, two people today wrote me that they were going to go get a job or go back to their job or whatever, and I was almost thoroughly disgusted. I’m like “are you kidding me?” You’re going to go back to a job that you hate? Or go find a job because you lost your job and you’ve kind of been dabbling in this and you’re thinking about doing this but you’re not quite sure if you can do it. Ridiculous that’s all I have to say, you two, and it’s not even just you two it’s the rest of you, just absolutely absurd and ridiculous.

The amount of knowledge that not only do I give you, but that you get from so many other people in this Forum, the Warrior Forum or wherever to do this. I mean, grow a set, and seriously grow a set. I’m a woman as you can tell and I must have a set. I’m kind of shy, my self esteem is right about here, but I don’t care. You have to try. There is no better job in the world than working for yourself and going out and getting a check having somebody pay you to do work that’s going to bring them a lot of money. And, I’m going to get into this in a minute. Your mind is just going to be doing a 360 when you hear what I have to say, what actually happened to me today. So, anyway, if you can’t do this just give up. Seriously, give up. Don’t do this, it really is difficult. Go back to wherever you were working before. Because this is so simple that seriously, if you put your mind to it, and that’s all you really have to do is put your mind to it, you can go do this. You can go help businesses owners.

Confidence I understand, somebody new trying to do this but, like I said, if you read through the forums there are enough people out there telling you it works, it can happen, get off of your butt. I’m going to say a totally disgusting word right now, but a person with hemorrhoids can go do this. Alright, seriously, hemorrhoids or not, go do this job.
