Today we are going to talk about Show Me The Money and how to get the money. I want to start with what you should do legally. There are some people out there who say that you don’t need anything. You don’t need a bank account, you don’t need cards, you don’t need brochures, and you don’t need anything to get started. Well, to look reputable in this business it is a good idea to be able to have a bank account so you can receive a check. To have it made out to you is just a little amateurish. And I if I was a business owner I wouldn’t really trust, I’m sure you can go with I didn’t set my account up yet but once again it does look amateurish. I would talk to your accountant, most of you probably already have one, about having them set you up with your IRS federal number and filing for your DBA. Whatever company name you decide to use to do this, whether it is Internet Marketing, Online Consultant, whatever you want it to be. And then go and file for it. It takes about a day or two, or you can go online to IRS.gov I believe it is and file that way. You don’t need to pay your accountant to do that. So if that’s easier for you to do go ahead and do it that way.
Once you have your paper the accountant or IRS can give you the number on the phone I believe or also mail you a hard copy. Also one thing I want to talk to you about is incorporations. I’m an LLC. I would advise being an LLC. Once again you can talk to your accountant about that. LLC is the easiest and that’s what my company is. Once you have your DBA number you can take that to the bank and start your bank account. They give you the starter checks but you won’t be using any checks to go out, you want the checks to come in. So, they give you your starter book with deposit slips and you can use them to deposit your very first check. That will be a great feeling when that happens. And you better come to me on the forum and tell me when you did get your first check. Because I want to hear about it and so does everybody else.
Next thing would be your printed material. I didn’t have business cards when I first started so I went to Vista Print they are very reasonable. Cheaper than going to Staples or your local office supply store. Vista Print I really like, you can pick out your logo unless you already have a logo, if you had a designer make you a logo. Then magnates are an option for your car if you want. I have them on mine. I do believe that if you get in an accident and you have a magnate of a business on your car the insurance will not cover you unless your vehicle is registered as a business. My truck is registered as a business so I can have magnates on my car. God for bid I am in an accident or someone decides to hit me I am still covered. It’s great advertising to put a magnate on your vehicle. I strongly advise to do it. I have them, I love them I actually want to take them off and have the decals put on. As far as the magnates go I do advise to get them they are helpful but like I said only if your car or truck is in your business name.
As far as brochures they are optional. I did have them when I first started for email marketing. Now I really don’t use them at all because I keep changing my rates. I can’t make up my mind, I’m blond and I’m a woman so I guess its always going to happen. So I did have the brochures, which I got through Vista Print. It was just a little outline and description of the value of email marketing and why they should do it and what it will do for them and the prices. But like I said it’s really optional. Its something you can think about doing down the road.
I found a great report from Yanik Silver the other day. I think its something you might like. If I were you I’d write this address down. This PDF is two hundred fifty one pages long. It is really good, its really good information about direct emails and email marketing. There is so much information in this PDF it will keep you busy for a little while reading it but the ideas in it that you can use for your clients are just tremendous. So check that over. I’ll give you another minute to write that down.
I just got a note from Jaime he said he is having technical problems but he is working on it now. So hopefully he’ll be back with us soon. Jason, you were kind enough to send me your email this morning. So I want to answer your question. Jason’s question was what would be your offline marketing starter kit? Meaning if I wanted to go out today and get a check what would you suggest I do?
He said he’s got a form or service of getting leads I don’t understand what you mean by form I guess you mean on the internet I’m not really sure. The source of getting leads we did go over this in part one of this webinar last week, any of your free local weekly, monthly magazines that you get delivered to your house. Like I said here in Atlantic City we have something called the Atlantic City Weekly. Which you can get at restaurants or businesses. They distribute that all over the place. It comes out on Thursdays. We also have delivered to our house a magazine called The Current. That is delivered to our house every week. Its split up by zones in two counties people do advertising in there as well. So like I said use those. Think about pack mailers, those are really good. Anywhere you can see, some people say can I flip through the phone book and look at the big ads, absolutely you can do that. Obviously they are spending money every month advertising. Yellow Pages are dead, people just aren’t looking anymore. They are looking online; they are looking for businesses to do business with on the Internet. That’s where they are going. There are something like nine hundred million people on the Internet now who have access to email. So that’s what they are looking for. I hope that’s what you were looking for to get the leads.
Number two was a book or script to use over the phone to get the appointments. Ok, I have a link I put it in my forum offlineisagoldmine.com but obviously Jaime, hopefully he will get back here soon, is the cold calling guy to go to. He just put out a new report called Phone Obliteration, which is going to be awesome. I’ve seen a preview of it its just killer. This thing with out a doubt is going to make you thousands of dollars just by using the phone. So look out for that.
Things to cover during your appointment, obviously questions. The most important thing you can do on your appointments is asking questions. Where do they see that business next year? How did they get started with the business? Would they like to see it grow more in the next three months, six months, and one year? Obviously they would. Where are they advertising now? Is it effective for them? Are they tracking the results they are getting on their advertising? Is there a way to track it? Most likely no they can’t track what they are doing. One thing we do as offline business consultants is as I would say traceable, targeted and permission based. I actually did a cold call yesterday for an auto repair store, and the guy actually said to me could I track what I do with you. And I said absolutely. Everything we do is targeted, traceable and permission based. If its not we don’t do it. So ask them tons of questions. How they started, would they like to see the business grow, what are their biggest frustrations, is it getting customers, clients in the door? Is it getting them to come back for repeat business? So questions, questions, questions.
The more questions you ask, the more you sound concerned. The more you can devise a plan that will work for that client. Whether it be setting them up a new website, offering a opt in/lead capture form on their website so they can start collecting addresses. Hooking them up with lead capture forms in their business to see if they have walk in traffic. Maybe video, video may be really good for this client. We have one, this guy is straight off the boat Italian, he’s absolutely adorable, and I love when he comes in to pay his bill. But he’s an installer, and even for his website he’s got sure he’s got pictures on it but for this guy there was nothing better for this guy than to have a video of before and after of a room he did or a kitchen he redid. He does marble and tile. His work is unbelievable. But for him I would definitely suggest doing a video. Because like I said, pictures are ok, but video is better. So with him if there were a local directory I’d get him on a local directory or area if there were one. Or offer him to submit his video once per month to thirty of the top video sharing sites.
Obviously you can use trafficizer to do to that or you can do that manually. But that’s a service you can provide. You can charge them two hundred dollars per month. The jewelry store we do this for has four to five listings on page one or two just because we take his video and we submit it through trafficizer to forty-five video sharing sites. And he’s just killing he’s one and two because of this video. He doesn’t even have a website. It’s on my local video directory. One of the girls submits them to trafficizer, all of the clients all of the videos. So that’s another service you can offer your client if you can get them to do a video. I’ll go into that in another webinar about getting a videographer or doing it yourself. That’s not really for today.
This first question is any website, marketing related tools one would need to fulfill an email marketing campaign for a newly acquired client. I have lots of articles; I probably have two to three articles per service that I offer. Whether it would be video marketing, you can find these online. The best place to find them is using Google alerts. Go to google alerts and set up key words on things you would want information for your clients. That’s pretty much where I get most of my articles. I think I have Internet marketing as one of my subjects, offline marketing is another. Possibly email marketing, restaurant marketing and Google will scour the web for the best articles that they think relate to that key word and everyday in my email I get articles on those subjects. Some of them I print out and those are the ones I leave with the client especially if they are debating on one or two of the services. Maybe today they didn’t want to get set up with a website but they do like the video idea and they jump on it.
I have lots of literature obviously on email marketing so I’ll leave them with three or four pamphlets on email marketing. A lot of it is just proof and statistics and stuff like that. Some of it might even be in reference to national franchises and how they are using it and how effective it is for them. I would definitely recommend Google alerts. So hopefully that answered your question. Jason for the most part that’s basically what I bring to them and the contracts for when I do get them to sign the contract so I do bring that with me as well.
I have one other question from Randy. His question is if a person has lots of advertising sales background, obviously you do good for you Randy, with local business owners but has never done anything with online marketing in the areas you currently work which particular product or service that you currently offer would perhaps be the fastest to offer to business owners to start earning profits with? I have to start somewhere so where would you recommend based on your experience?
Randy, I’m sorry, all of them! Seriously all of them. This is what we can do a video, social marketing, new website or redesign your crappy one, local SEO it to get it to the first page of Google, email marketing that’s really simple. Start collecting names today. All of them really. You with advertising already know how to make calls, so you would probably already have your foot in the door and you probably have loads of connections. All of them, really that’s why you have to ask them questions. And try to analyze that’s why you are the consultant because you are analyzing based on his answers that you are getting from him on what you should do first. The price factor on that client, start them out with something small, start out with email marketing, by the way did anybody catch my Gina X video, I was in a funny mood that day that we actually shot that. It was on St. Patrick’s Day and I took my assistants to an Irish bar and she had car bombs and we fell into the office and shot that. But that’s a whole other story. Randy really that’s the best I can tell you. Is offer all of them ask the questions and figure it out.
Let me see if I can get Jaime to answer that question. Hopefully in under about five minutes he can offer that answer to you. Jaime? Can you hear me? Yes we can.
I don’t know if anyone else has got this but I can just hear a major echo. Yes you are echoing worse than I am I think. Hopefully people can understand. Just a quick answer to Randy’s question I would say local SEO.
